I want to be immersed in a culture to the point where it feels like I am a part of that culture.

Dinner & Ice Cream in East Nashville

Picture
Tuesday, April 15, 2014

Approximately 7 PM -
A few hours after I landed I went to dinner with my law school buddy Will and his fiancée Rebecca. We went to eat at (to my surprise!) a Mexican restaurant called the Rose Pepper. Unfortunately I don't have any pics of the restaurant but the food was great and the place was popping for a Tuesday night - meaning that it was packed with lots of people, young and old, professionals, families with children, and loud/lively music - which made it feel like the place to go. I can't imagine what it must be like on a Friday or Saturday night. Yeah East Nashville!

And after that we took our very stuffed stomachs for more tasty temptations at Jeni's Ice Cream right across the street.

And to my surprise (I don't know why I thought this - perhaps due to stereotypes) I definitely was not the only person of color around at all - I saw diverse people everywhere, professionals like us, mixed groups, mothers and children, and people of all ages just having fun.

In the pic above: me, Will, and Rebecca at Jeni's Ice Cream, where apparently Clare Bowen (who plays Scarlett O'Connor on Nashville) also goes! I had this chocolate flavor, the name of which I don't recall, but as you can tell from the video above I was loving it!

Weather: It was supposedly 60s during the day, but by the time we had gone out it felt like 40 or so in the evening (still warmer than Boston though so I guess that was better).
