I did see this coming. Every time I watched an episode recently I kept asking myself how is this still on the air??? I understand why loyal watchers have been posting to #SaveNashville or something, and while I wholeheartedly would love to see this happen, I hope the tv show producers incorporate a few lessons that they should've learned from this sudden-cancellation experience:
I know it doesn't seem like it, but I do love the show, or loved it a lot more when it first aired. In my opinion, it started dragging after season 2, because it felt like the writers didn't know how to sustain our interest without throwing in these weird Hail Mary plot lines, and also because the show stopped being about the great music. I couldn't wait to buy the soundtracks for the first two seasons when they first came out - now, not so much.
Something's changed. But I hope Nashville finds its footing soon (if that's what's in the cards). I mean, this is the show that brought me to see Music City in the flesh, and I shudder to think that I never woulda known the real Nashville had I not seen the show.
At least I can say thanks Nash, for Nash.

- STOOOP dragging out storylines that you know were supposed to be resolved two seasons ago (i.e. Scarlett & Gunnar - we know they are end game; you keep feeding to us that they're end game, so why all the useless characters like Autumn? Yes, I'm glad they were able to go out on tour with her as a duo for the first time(?) but having her try to steal Gunnar away from Scarlett, the 10th chic for the umpteenth time to do this, c'mon already! A girl's only gonna wait for soo long! And see, when they finally admit that they're still in love with each other, the poor series is over. Is that what you always wanted?)
- If so, then poor writing! I get that Nashville is trying to keep us on the edge of our seats, but unnecessarily dragging stuff out will cause you to lose viewers, which I think the ratings told you that you did.
- Please let Deacon grow from being the alcoholic who makes the same mistakes and keeps pushing Rayna away. If you get another season, please figure out how to make him the heartthrob worth redeeming. Who stays redeemed.
- As the #FreeHarrison people said, #FreeJuliette from her same ole bratty self that sleeps around, messes up her relationships, makes progress, and reverts. Who never grows. She was headed in that direction though, before her plane crashed that was.
- Whatever happened with the Rayna & Juliette beef anyway? Isn't that why we were supposed to be watching? That's why I was watching!!!!
- Some more diversity and characters of color serving a real purpose (i.e. permanent cast members) wouldn't hurt.
- Take notes from Shonda Rhimes. Not only on the diversity point but also on creating organic storylines that do justice to the characters & on keeping a show going for 12 seasons! (Grey's Anatomy anyone? From Season 1 to Season Infinity I'll still look forward to seeing the next episode. Something about the characters that makes it feel like they're a part of me: I felt permanent loss when Christina left, grief when George died and Izzy disappeared, and I'm hoping against hope that my besties Alex & Mer stay together...I could do w/o Amelia, but the person who plays her is a good actress so I can stomach her for now).
